AICC’s E-Commerce Xperience, held last week in Irving, Texas, was by all accounts a smash hit with the 150 or so members attending.
The event, held February 18-20 at the Sheraton DFW Airport Hotel, brought together converters, packaging consultants, e-commerce experts, brand owners and industry suppliers for an intensive, deep-dive look into the forces shaping the growing retail segments of online sales. Speakers addressed the new marketing and packaging requirements of retailers and online sales channels like Amazon, and how brand owners are dealing with the fast-changing e-commerce landscape. Attendees also heard from AICC member boxmakers who are active in the e-commerce “space,” as well as suppliers of technology to enable more efficient delivery to this sector.
In a combination of general-session featured speakers and breakout workshops, AICC’s E-Commerce Xperience offered the industry’s first corrugated-specific treatment of the e-commerce phenomenon. Well-known speakers such as Brent Lindberg of Fuseneo and Jared Butts of The Hershey Company addressed e-commerce dynamics and related packaging requirements. Ron Sasine of Hudson-Windsor talked about Amazon’s expectations while AICC members Richard Brown of the Boxmaker; Mark Mathes of Vanguard Packaging; Miriam Brafman of Packlane; and Abby Byland of Dusobox’s WizBangBox talked about their companies’ e-commerce business strategies.
